Try powering the device off first.  If the phone does not power off, remove and replace the battery.  Then power the device back on and dial *228 send and option 1 on the device.

How does reactivating the phone have anything to do with it freezing?

And if the phone 'froze up' how can one power it off? To turn it off one would have to interact with the UI, I'm just a journeyman wireman. But, if the phone froze wouldn't that mean the screen is stuck on one picture and or a black screen?

Surprised your post didn't get removed, PJ. All I did was tell them they were wrong, and I got told I was rude and mean.

ha yeah, my definition of frozen phone is one that is unresponsive and doesn't respond to touch.  You can hold the power button all day long but if the power off menu doesn't pop up and you can't touch the option to power off, you're not going to get anywhere.  In that case, the only option is to pull the battery which shouldn't destroy your phone.  Hopefully the OP got it straight.
