droid price

I have been eligible for a upgrade since 12/18/09. I am thinking of going with the Droid (my first smart phone). I have been waiting for the price to drop. Does anybody know when this might possibly happen? Even if it went down to $149.99 I would probably then make the move........

They might offer a deal on it but it more than likely won't go down until the next big phone offered by Verizon comes out for Android. The Nexus One won't do it. That will be offered by Google at a subsidized rate but you won't be able to use your NE2 on it. There will be a few awesome phones coming in the next few months I would say by June or July you will see the Droid offered at a steal because by then they will have pretty well milked it for all they wanted to milk it for and there will be some more powerful beast with some kind of exclusive wow factor coming out at $199 that will make it silly to offer the Droid for that. It might get as low as $99 maybe for a limited time or maybe until they no longer carry it by the end of this year.

For what it is worth by then they will just be selling off remaining inventory and by Spring/Summer of next year they more than likely won't even carry it anymore. Very few phones have a longer lifespan than 20months or more on market and in a category that moves so fast as smartphones/Android phones you can bet it won't outlive other phones.

I see Amazon web site selling the Motorola Droid for only $129.99. HTC Eris is set at $9.99. You would have to agree to the terms to get the phone at that price though. Amazon Motorola Droid Amazong HTC Eris LetsTalk web site also has the Motorola Droid for $129.99 at upgrade price. Eris would be $79.99 at with upgrade.
