....pay 20.00 a month for tethering! That's VZW's official answer!!! Asking your question elsewhere will probably net you better, less monitored results

Tamika1,
Is this included in our unlimited data plan? I have also heard rumors about how there is a cap on the unlimited plan...is that true?
Thanks,
CTECH

1. USB Driver – Download or Download (Mirror)
2. Tethering Software – [PDANet] Download (Full version costs $29, onetime)Step 1. First, Install PDANet software on your desktop and Phone. The moment you install it on desktop, it will automatically install the USB driver for you, if it doesn’t, you can use the USB driver above to install.
Step 2. Make sure you have USB Debugging still enabled. Connect your Droid to the USB and on phone, launch the PDANet software. Click on “Turn PdaNet On“.
Step 3. Once it is turned on, you can then go to your PC and “Connect” on the PDANet software on your taskbar. You are done, You have Tethered Droid successfully, enjoy the High speed wireless Internet.
Step 4. (Optional, only for Bluetooth) If you need Bluetooth Tethering, first thing you need to do is pair your phone with your PC via bluetooth connection.
Step 5. Once successful, create a Dial-up Networking Connection (DUN). When asked what modem to use, select the Bluetooth Modem Driver. It will ask you for a username and password, select you won’t need to use one. It will ask you to for a phone number to use to dial out. Use “123? as the phone number.
I hope these steps will help.

Using your phone tethered to a computer you will quickly reach your 5GB limit and they will charge you for additional use. The only truly unlimited data use is by using data on your phone.

I think the 5GB limit is an urban myth that has been going around forever. It could be for early data plans but not for the unlimited data plans that the majority of us @ 29.99 are paying for. I found a tems and conditions for it under Global data access but it is not a T&C under the unlimited plans.

Thanks for your answers. The following I found out on verizon's website and have copied into here.
Data Plans and Features: Permitted Uses
You can use our Data Plans and Features for accessing the Internet and for such uses as: Internet browsing; (ii) email; (iii) intranet access (including accessing corporate intranets, email and individual productivity applications made available by your company); (iv) uploading, downloading and streaming of audio, video and games; and (v) Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP).
Data Plans and Features: Prohibited Uses
You may not use our Data Plans and Features for illegal purposes or purposes that infringe upon others’ intellectual property rights, or in a manner that interferes with other users’ service, interferes with the network’s ability to fairly allocate capacity among users or that otherwise degrades service quality for other users. Examples of prohibited usage include: server devices or host computer applications, including continuous Web camera posts or broadcasts, automatic data feeds, automated machine-to-machine connections or peer-to-peer (P2P) file-sharing applications that are broadcast to multiple servers or recipients such that they could enable “bots” or similar routines (as set forth in more detail in (iii) below) or otherwise denigrate network capacity or functionality; (ii) as a substitute or backup for private lines or dedicated data connections; (iii) “auto-responders,” “cancel-bots,” or similar automated or manual routines that generate amounts of net traffic that could disrupt net user groups or email use by others; (iv) generating “spam” or unsolicited commercial or bulk email (or activities that facilitate the dissemination of such email); (v) any activity that adversely affects the ability of other users or systems to use either Verizon Wireless’ services or the Internet-based resources of others, including the generation or dissemination of viruses, malware or “denial of service” attacks; (vi) accessing, or attempting to access without authority, the information, accounts or devices of others, or to penetrate, or attempt to penetrate, Verizon Wireless’ or another entity’s network or systems; or (vii) running software or other devices that maintain continuous active Internet connections when a computer’s connection would otherwise be idle, or “keep alive” functions, unless they adhere to Verizon Wireless’ requirements for such usage, which may be changed from time to time. By way of example only, you may not use a Data Plan or Feature for Web broadcasting, or for the operation of servers, telemetry devices and/or Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition devices.
You may assess and monitor your own data usage during a particular billing period, including during the Return Period under your Worry Free Guarantee, by accessing My Account online, or by contacting Customer Service.
The Data Plans or Features are for individual use only and you may not offer them for resale. We further reserve the right to take measures to protect our network and other users from harm, compromised capacity or degradation in performance. These measures may impact your service, and we reserve the right to deny, modify or terminate service, with or without notice, to anyone we believe is using Data Plans or Features in a manner that adversely impacts our network. We may monitor you compliance, or the compliance of other subscribers, with these terms and conditions, but we will not monitor the content of your communications except as otherwise expressly permitted or required by law. [See verizonwireless.com/privacy.]
So I am assuming that there is: 1) no limit as to mb usage and 2) as long as I am browsing the internet and not doing p2p and other various illegal activities and spamming I will be ok....right?
Thanks,
CTECH

CTECH: The 5GB limit is more of an expectation. There has been times in the past where my usage has been over 15GB on average for the better part of 2 years. But this was all used on my handset, not tethering. VZW charges an additional fee per month for tethering service. Sure you can risk it, but do you want to be surprised by a fee on your monthly bill?
Your best bet is to call *611 from your VZW phone and speak to a Customer Service Rep. If they tell you it's no additional charge, ask them to please add a note to the account detailing the conversation.
