I recently updated my droid and i really dont like the upgrade. three steps to call someone in your contacts and i have to click on the contact another three time before the call is placed. good thing I haven't had to make an emergency call.

a lot of things were changed from froyo.

perhaps your touch is too light on the touch screen.

If you only had one telephone number for your contact, and only a telephone number, no Email, etc., you don't have to go through the step by step. If you have more than one telephone number and addresses, etc. than you have that step by step. It's a pain, I know.

The dialing pattern has changed significantly as a result of the software update.

For your "most frequently dialed" contacts, I recommend setting up speed dial to help out.

Add Speed dial
From the main screen tap Phone
Tap Menu
Tap Speed dial setup
Select the speed dial location
Select contact to assign to that location
Press Home button to exit

Remove Speed dial
From the main screen tap Phone
Tap Menu
Tap Speed dial setup
Select the contact to remove from speed dials and press the "minus" icon to remove

I think they're referring to the DIALER icon on the bottom tool bar - assuming you don't remove or replace it.  (The Green Icon that now has a Phone & Contact together.).

I never have really liked this new dial pad since it came out in July with Ginger the botton part of it is Ok it's readable very nice to look at But the Top part of it were the 1,2,3, 4,5,6 keys an were you enter for a search is so whitened out. To me this was a stooped flaw on eather googles part or Moto's an they should've fixed it before they release it out with that Update but thats my only little rant other than that it's ok. OK I see how to add it but to speed dial, do you have to go thru that same menu?

And I had forgotten how truly stupid the manual is. How do I add a contact to favorites in the dialer?

Just LONG PRESS on a Contact - one of the options is "Add to Favs".

To set it for SPEED DIAL, you go to the DIALER Enter or select the number, then press the MENU button - and SPEED DIAL SET UP is one of the options.
