dropping calls

hello, i have the original motorola droid and im at my house at the moment. my wifi is full but the 4 bar thing next to it which i believe is data connection is empty. i can still watch youtube videos/browse the web/etc. but when i call someone, they will be able to hear me for a short period of time then i will break up and a beeping noise comes up saying call has been lost. it does this every time and its really annoying. and i also get these error messages sometimes saying "You have lost data connectivity because you left your home network with data roaming...plz help?!!!!

by the way i just got a new phone and battery since last week my other droid got smashed by a basketball :smileysad:

I apologize for the delayed response and I am eager to resolve your concern. Can you provide a little more information? Please advise if you are connected to the Wi-Fi network in your home? Which will allow you to simultaneously browse the web and talk. To ensure your are connected to Wi-Fi go to: Setting>Wireless & Network Settings>Click the check box next to Wi-Fi (which should turn green)>Select Wi-Fi Settings>Select the available Wi-Fi connection you would like to use. Also, if you are connected to your home Wi-Fi network, are you within in range to received a signal?

To turn your data roaming feature on go to: Settings>Data Manager>Select Data Delivery>Place a check mark next to Data Roaming. Rest assured you will not incur in Data roaming charges while in the United States. If you plan on traveling out of the country please contact us before your travel to ensure you are on the right plan. Please reach out to me with any additional concerns.

Is there an location nearby where you can connect to a strong Verizon signal and dial *228, option 1 to reprogram your phone to the Verizon system? Then dial *228, option 2 to update your roaming list (PRL).

Have you been able to make calls in past from this location? If so, perhaps there is a tower issue in the area.

It doesn't matter how much wifi connection you have, wifi is only for web, the 4 bars next to it is how much connection you have with the verizon wireless signal, it controls texts and calls.
