I solved the issue if you open the contact app in the app list. at the top of the screen it says contacts: All contacts click on those words and select  which address book you want to use ...Google would be the recommended one

I watched a video review where they talked about this very issue.  I don't recall their work-around on it, but I do believe there is an option somewhere in that Facebook app.

I do agree that having all your facebook contacts added to your phone, or updates from them would suck.

Uninstall it and then reinstall it and when it asks about the syncing options do the sync with existing contacts or w/e you want. Just a thought if you haven't tried that yet.

I had the same issue, so I removed facebook as an account from Settings > Accounts, and then I downloaded the Facebook app from the market. Works better for me.

I have the same problem...but I found that when I removed the facebook account and added Facebook app from market, I lose the ability to have thier profile pic attach to thier existing contact in my phone.  As much as I LOVE this phone over the first DROID, the way contacts are handled is not good.  Backup Assistant? Are you kidding me? Also, when I go to pick a contact phone number to text to, EVERY contact number comes up instead of just mobile numbers.  This is ridiculous being you can't send a text message to a landline...very annoying.

The Contact's application does not list numbers as "Landlines", it's done by Home, Mobile, Work, etc. My BlackBerry did the same thing, offering to SMS any of the numbers listed. Fact is, someone's work number may be a Google Voice number, or another mobile phone. No reason to not allow people to text it, no?

It's just a safeguard for people who have mobile phones/SMS services on various lines.

I understand what you are saying...by "Landlines" I meant Work, Home, etc.  They need to at least give the option to only display "mobile" numbers.  Also, the integration of Facebook and Twitter Contacts causes problems in other programs.  An example: when using Mabilo Ringtones to assign a ringtone to a contact, it brings up the entire contact list.  I seriously don't think I need to see Twiiter names in my contacts. No need to assign a ringtone to Ashton Kutcher... It just seems there are some Display options missing that weren't on the other Droid.  There was one that for displaying only contacts with phone numbers...no there anymore.
