ok, so ive been trying to update to the new 2.3 GB os now for awhile....ive done a factory reset, and it still wont install the new update...what else is there to do??? ... the phone isnt rooted, and its all worked fine up until now...it installed the last update just fine and perfect...anyone have any ideas on what to do...i havent got around to calling verizon yet i figured i would look online first and everyone else seems to be able to install it just fine...when it goes to install it gets about a quarter of the way done and shows an exclamation mark in a triangle next to the lil android dude and restarts back into 2.2...have tried it atleast 10 times now...getting quite frustrated

Go to settings - Data Manager -Social Network Connection- make sure it is not set for sync only over Wifi.

I've heard it won't work on wifi, or if your battery is lower than 50%

The Wifi should work fine, I did my update through a wifi connection to make sure I wouldnt have any data issue during download.  Are you getting any errors?

If all fails, backup and hard reset before trying to install because sometimes there ends up being a unknown app that caused the issue,

Hard Reset: - Removes all personal data and sets device back to the stock state when you bought device...

1. Uncheck "Back up my data" under Settings/Privacy

2. Click Factory Data Reset/Reset Phone

3. After reset is complete only Active Phone but do not input Google Email information

4. Once phone is at homepage go back into Settings/Privacy and make sure the Automatic Restore option is unchecked, even if grayed out, activate "Back up my data" and quickly disable "Automatic Restore"

5. After being sure that the Automatic Restore option is off it will be safe to log into Google and you can continue installing preferred apps and custom settings.

ok...when i did a factory reset i didnt do all of that..what i did is when the update tried to install i hit the search button and it brought up the commands after the intall failed... then i did the factory reset from there...is the hard reset actually different then doing that because i'd hate to go through all that again and have it not work again....and no i have not deleted any pre-installed apps on the phone...

GooB, were you able to install GB yet? Please let me know. I can help, if you haven't.

I know you said you didn't root it, but did you delete any of the pre-installed applications that came with it? That will also not let you update it.
