froyo 2.2 automatically trying to download

so I press the systems update option to see what the phone will do and it gave me a screen where it says  2.1 will automatically update in 30 secs unless I press the later button, so I did and it stopped but now every now and then the update screen reappears without me even going into the sytems update option, luckily i caught it everytime and clicked on later, I dont want froyo 2.2 into my phone yet until they fix all the issues, is there a way to stop this update from occuring automatically on my phone?  What happens if i sleep one night wake up in the morning and the phone changes to 2.2 without my consent?? I'd be very **bleep**! :manmad:any helps aprreciated thanks  :smileyhappy:

Sounds like you allowed the update to download to the device already and it simply wants to complete the process, its kind of like Windows updater app once the update is downloaded the update will continue to install the update no matter you interactions responce.since your device has been added to server for update needed it will most likely continue trying.. The only way that I think you can bypass this is backup and hard reset and do not restore personal settings because there is probally a file that reports back that update was requested and not completed.  If you hard reset the system will be seen as a new device and shouldnt push it until requested again.

Sorry to hear that but I figured that was going to happen soon or later.... Well since the update has went through and you are fearing issues coming from the install, I suggest you consider backing up and hard resetting your device because a number of the issues that users experience after update was caused from 2.1 settings and apps still being installed on device that isn't fully compatible with the 2.2 OS.  Check out my post here: http://community.vzw.com/t5/DROID-X-by-Motorola/Minimize-Droid-X-Issues-After-Froyo-Update/m-p/29658... that users has reported to be useful.

Hope all goes good...
