have 3g service but am unable to make/receive calls and texts

My X is acting like it has zero signal but it still has 3G service. If I try to make a call it automatically ends the call and says it cannot connect. I went into the phone status and it say signal strength is -120 dBm 0 asu, I dunno if that helps explain anything lol any and all ideas are welcome. Thanks.

UPDATE: so im an idiot. nevermind...... LOL

3 friends informed me that they, as well as thier families phones are out as well. He said he called verizon and they are "working on it". so idk what that means..

oh i see, well then i had mentioned this problem to a buddy and he said these 3 words to me "pay your bill." so i had totally forgot to pay my bill, i paid it about an hour ago and am still having this issue so i guess verizon is having system issues? i dunno...

i just called verizon, they say there is an outage in my area. im in san francisco/san jose bay area CA
