Easy one.
Go to "settings"/Accounts/(your gmail account)" and click on that account. A window will open with the choices of things to sync. You can select mail, contacts and calenders. Once selected, they should sync themselves with no further action on your part.
And the cool thing is, when you add, modify, or delete a contact either the phone or the computer, that change is reflected in the other set of contacts.
