how do i access my videos? they don't appear in my sd card file.

i read the thread that the internal 8gb cannot be accessed.  however, i have several videos in my gallery that do not appear in my sd card folder when i attach via usb to my computer.

i recently had my mic and speaker go dead and the retailer suggested i do a factory reset.  but this would wipe out some precious videos (newborn, etc).

my mic and speaker miraculously started working again, but the issue remains that i cannot access or back up some valuable video files.

any suggestions?

One option that I know of to get to the files directly on your internal storage is the free APP called "ES File Explorer". It allows you to access the data on yor internal storage and Copy or Move files between storage devices.

Hope this helps.

I'm sorry but ES File explorer will not allow access to the internal memory because you have to void warrenty to access internal memory.   Have you tried checking in SD Card / DCIM / Camera when device is mounted as Mass Storage because this is where the files are saved from camera, also you can try removing card and placing it in a pc card reader and acced the directory I reported.

Even if ES Explorer can't, there are other file explorers that can access the phone's interval storage with read only privileges. This would let you copy and paste out of the internal storage without having to void your warranty.

Ok you are enlighten me on something new, the internal storage is classified as the root directory and I havent seen any file browsers that can browse the root directory because originally the system will hide the directory from all directories to make sure no access to it, which app can veiw the root directory?  Care to share some names because I like to test apps like this to understand the programmers coding/

ES File Explorer let me view my phone's internal folder structure.  It was read-only, but I had no intention of messing with them.  I just wanted to see how it was organized.

Thanks that is a surprise, but I havent used it for a minute, I because a Astro fan....  Appreciate the info that will give me something to play with when I get off...   But back to the original reason this came up, the device does not give you a option to save videos or images to the internal memory so needing to acces the root directory isnt required.

Tried Astro once.  Really tried.  Went back to Estrongs.  Especially after Estrongs added their own backup feature a while back.  To each their own...

You do know Astro has a full app backup feature as well?  Just click Menu >> Tools >> Application Manager / Backup and it gives you option to backup all app files.

:smileysurprised: Sorry. back to subject :smileyhappy: I just read your post again and realized what you was saying, the videos you may be seeing in gallery that isnt on sd card may be a video for a app, I see the video for NOVA (First Shooter Game) because I have the game installed and the app did not hide the files from the library, this actually is normal, this will happen when the files hasnt been hidden...Those files can be on card or internal memory..  If you can see the file in gallery, check properties and it will give you name and location to clear things up on hhow this works.

Hope this clear things for you...

Actually the backup feature was why I tried Astro in the first place.  The Backup feature was nice and I liked it, but I had a hard time navigating around the rest of the app.

To the OP, sorry for hijacking your thread.  :smileywink:

Wildman - Another app that I've heard giving read only access to the internal storage is Root Explorer.

Wildman - that was my point back on the #2 post ...  ES File Explorer CAN READ (only) the internal Memory just to be able to COPY & PASTE files to another place ... e.g., SD Card.  I would not expect by doing so to invalidate anything.

I realize that now and that was my mistake, sorry I misunderstood what you was leading to....  My mistake :smileysurprised:

I just realized that root explorer now list that it will work as a standard file explorer on a unrooted device, I never look at that software for this because of the name and old descriptions that reported that it only worked on a voided warrenty device.

Thanks for update...

None of us here can know every single thing about every Droid device, and that goes even more so for all the apps out there.  That's what is so great about a community! :smileyhappy:

I hope I never stop learning.
