Best to ask VZW marketing about that. It seems the marketing/support cycle for these devices is getting shorter since the pace of new intros has picked up over the last couple of years. But this is just a guess.
I find it ironic that we have to buy a 2-year contract for a phone that becomes obsolete and unsupported only months after we buy it!

The Samsung Galaxy 2 Function for Verizon will no doubt sell for $299(if not more) when it goes on sale.
IIRC, it will have 4G as well.... making the Samsung Droid Charge obsolete.... on the other hand,
Verizon will probably keep it around for a few months and give it a new price of $149.(probably $49 or
$99 at third-party retailers like Best Buy)
This is not to say that the Droid Charge isn't a good phone.... just now the new kid on the block anymore.
