Verizon has nothing to do with creating patches and bug fixes, the manufacturer does that. Try posting on the Motorola community forum for the Droid 2 here: https://supportforums.motorola.com/community/google-android/droid2?view=discussions They have staff monitoring their forum, who pass bug reports and feature requests to the appropriate personnel.
Also, it helps to keep a simple title, and post the bulk of the message in the message box--don't put your whole message in the title. You might also get a better response if you post it as a request and not a demand.
The default email app on the Droid 2 does have a sent mail folder.
I am switching to the free K9 mail client and away from Messanger.
On my Nexus One when I had it I used K-9 and handcent(or chompsms) over the stock email, and messaging clients.
