Thank you for your inquiry. The Driod Incredible 2 does have a front facing camera, but is unable to use any video calling. Verizon Wireless and Skype are working on a new service for 4G LTE Smartphones that will enable video calling. The application will be called Skype Mobile with Video. While Skype Mobile with Video won't be available when the first 4G LTE Smartphones launch, we continue to work together to deliver the application as soon as we can, but we don't have a specific date to share at this time.

I'm having the same problem  - the voice comes through - but not a picture or video. . .

Are you sure the Skype app for Android phones is capable of doing video calls? I know that Skype with video was supposed to come on the Thunderbolt, but I haven't seen the official application yet. Maybe it is not available for the HTC Droid Incredible 2 yet either.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

EdW_VZW....you failed to mention that the Incredible 2 is NOT a 4G phone...so it doesn't matter.

Yeah Ed, that wasn't very helpful. Since I don't have the TB (and don't want it), I don't really care what it can do. But what good is a front-facing camera if you can't use it for video calls (well, I know you can use other apps, but really, why not Skype?)? Will skype video calling work on wifi? And why will Skype work for video calling on the VZW iPhone but not on Android OS?

The only reason I have not demanded a different replacement for my Thunderbot is the fact that the leaked Skype w/ video apk works amazing and I use it daily to talk to family on their pc. I have considered the Dinc 2 but fear if I jump ship from the Tbolt the bugs will be worked out the next day. My point being that the fact that I have gotten a leaked version of a video chat app that works far better than tango or qik leads me to believe the hold up is Verizon. They supposedly pulled Skype from the Tbolt before launch for unknown reasons but I can say the leaked Skype w/ video has less bugs than the Tbolt in general so the fact they pulled an app from a flawed phone and still released the phone means their probably trying to figure out how to block it to wifi only or charge us for it.

I just purchased an Incredible 2 today.  My husband purchased his last week.  We were told in the store that we would be able to use Skype for video calls.  He works on the other side of the country and that was the main reason we purchased these phones.  Are you saying that the sales rep completely told a lie?  If I can't use Skype mobile or another program for video chats there was no reason for us to purchase these phones.

It seems that way, at least currently. Or more likely, the Verizon rep had no idea what he was talking about, and was trying to make a sale.

I don't know if it's a lie as much as it is just being ill-informed. If a device has a front-facing camera, a reasonable person may naturally assume there's an app that allows for video chat.

I'm sure we will soon have options for this, or there would be a lot of angry Inc 2 owners.

Have you both tried using Tango from the android market. I know I have the thunderbolt and was told that skype video chat will be an update at some point, but I know I can use Tango with an original droid (3G phone), Ally, and Droid X and it will be video however since they have a camera in the back they have to turn the phone around. Try that and see if that works... just a thought. Let me know if that works, I'm kind of curious. I'm just assuming, but I would think that you would be able to use the front camera then.

Being Ill-informed is apparently very common then. Verizon needs to do a better job of educating their employees, apparently.

I was told specifically that the Skype Mobile app on my Incredible 2 would allow video calls. This was after I asked a direct question to that effect. I knew the video calling issue was directed for 4G and the Thunderbolt and was surprised when the in-store rep told me the DINC2 could have video chats with the Skype mobile app.

I asked, "So the Skype app already allows video calls?", He said "Absoutely". I was skeptical, but I had already pretty much decided on the DINC2 anyway so I didn't worry about. I was unsurprised when it didn't work.

My husband and I purchased the Incredible 2 yesterday.  Our first question before we made our decision between that and the iPhone was if we'd be able to do video chat with Incredible 2, as he's at work 48 hours straight.  We had 2 Verizon sales rep tell us yes and with Skype.  Now that I'm home and I've been playing with the phone for a day, it doesn't work.  And then I get on here and read that Skype Mobile is not video capable on Incredible 2.  I'm VERY irritated right now; it wasn't just 1 employee that told us you could, but 2!!  If you're not sure about it, ASK.  Don't tell a customer something just to make a sale.

Have you actually used Tango? Maybe it works for you, but it's downright awful for us. You can SEE the other person, but you can't hear a thing. There is so much feedback, like microphone feedback, that I can't even bear to stay on a call. Hopefully updates will fix this. I would still rather use Skype.

OK, I just went on the Skype Mobile website and they show it available for Android and have a list of  Android phones from VZW that support Skype Mobile. The Droid Incredible 2 is on the list. So, from that I would guess it's available. Has anyone tried to download/use it from that site?

Alright. Well, I continued to dig on the Skype site and managed to find a section I couldn't get to before. And it does show video calling as not supported for Android....period.  Whick makes me love the idea of the apk even more.

i went the apk route on my tbolt and it's flawless. search other android forums to see if you can come across one for the inc 2. verizon did a HORRIBLE job with this. the tbolt was actually shown off in february with skype actually integrated into it (not an app). then it launched with nothing and no info on how long we'd have to wait. i was flat out shocked that i could in NO WAY video call my brothers or mom, etc on their pc's. some mobile to mobile apps that did ok....but nothin for mobile to pc for the tbolt....until i found the leaked apk for skype.
