I've only had my droid for a couple of weeks and i was enjoying it until yesterday it started acting up at work. i tried to get on the internet to check something and it kept timing out. So i turned the phone off and turned it back on and it kept getting stuck saying droid over and over again. i've tried rebooting it, clearing out the memory and everything i can think of i might just have to get a replacement. and now its gotten to the point where it freezes, and the droid eyes is just looking blankly. can anyone help me out here?

Sorry to hear you are having this trouble and so soon. After about 9 months mine started doing the same thing. First it was when it was on navigation, then overheating when surfing the web. The local store tried changing the battery but no success. Yesterday they ordered a replacement phone. You will find several postings on boards about this issue for several different Android phones and others.

When your experiencing issues with your phone freezing or timing out, there are a few steps you can take to reset your device.
To perform a soft reset on your phone, you may use the steps below:
- Ensure the device is powered down then remove the battery.
- Wait 3 seconds, replace the battery then power the handset on.
- Attempt a test call then attempt the action that caused the handset to freeze or malfunction previously.
- Power on the phone within the Verizon Wireless coverage area.
- Dial *228 then press SEND (this call is airtime free and may take up to 2 minutes).
- When prompted, press 2 for the option to update the PRL.
- Once completed, a confirmation message will appear to informing that the phone has been re-programmed with the new PRL.
- Press End to terminate the call.
- Power cycle the phone to complete the update.
Additionally, if you have attempted all the steps above along with clearing the cache, we will need to perform additional trouble shooting on your device.

HOW does one "make sure the phone is powered down" and then remove the battery if the phone is either frozen and refuses to power down or do anything OR it just keeps repeating "DROID" and cycling and will not power down?

I find that you should just pull a battery at that point. If it's looping and doing the droid thing as you say the first step as Verizon Posted is to clear the cache. If that fails to clear the memory (Or do a hard reset). You can do this by Booting into Recovery mode. search the Internet but you can do it with it powered off (Or battery out and insert battery and hold the joystick or Volume down key) becareful what you do. Depending on your knowledge you may want to be on the phone with verizon support or go into the store for assitance (Stores can't do alot to help from personal experiance)
