message notification sounds-how do I turn off

ever since the update on my droid 2 global phone  last week, all my messages  have sound notification, which I had turned off previously.  When I access the settings for sound, there is not an option for no sound, only types of sound.  if I select one, and lower the volume for messaging, it also lowers my call ringtone volume as well. What is the solution?   Thanks for the help...

Hello sittib11,

Thank you for providing the details on your concern as I am eager to assist. I understand how inconvenient it can be for your phone to chime at the most inopportune time. May I ask what software version do you have on the Droid 2 Global? I want to double check that you have the latest version of the Android OS. The Droid 2 Global with the most recent software version no longer have a silent mode. It was replaced with the No Sound option. This option can be found in settings and at the top of the menu under sound. If you are interested in managing the sound for different notification then I have posted some steps below for your review. Below are the steps on your device to get a volume meter for notification.

Go to Settings > Sound > Volume > Uncheck Use Incoming call volume for notification > Adjust the 4th bar for notification.

Upon your review, I hope that one of the two options discussed above is what you are looking for. Any feedback from you on these instruction is greatly appreciated.

Thank you...
