missing sync for calendar

I set up a new Gmail account for my Droid X. At the time I had no calendar associated with it.  Now that I've set up a calendar (using my computer), I want to sync it with my Droid X.  But when I go to that account on my phone, there are options to sync my contacts and my email, but no option for the calendar.  How do I change that?

This is another way to access the menu to change the sync on gMail account.... Goto  My Accounts > gMail Account

If you go to Settings>Accounts>YourGmailAccount you should see three sync settings: Contacts, Sync Gmail, Sync Calendar. If you don't, I'm not sure what would be the problem except maybe remove it and add it again.

In other words, the calendar uses your gmail account to sync information.

I would be interested in a solution to this too.  I activated my phone using a current gmail account, but had never used the calendar feature.  When it synced for the first time it did not work for the calendar.  I read many places trying to find solutions (deleting stored data for the calendar), but they all failed.  The only thing I haven't tried is factory resetting my phone.

I did find a work around that kind of works.  I created a new gmail account on the web, accessed the calendar on it through the web (had some setup questions), and then linked my current gmail calendar to the new account and then linked that to the phone.  Worked like a charm, just had to turn on my shared calendar in the calendar app.

One note though, some sites said you could create the account through the phone, but this did not work for me as I just ended up with another no calendar account.  I actually had to go create a new account on the gmail website and then access the calendar before trying to link it to the phone.

Wildman, I got my Droid right before Thanksgiving and your 3rd screenshot doesn't match mine.  I don't have any boxes to check, instead I have the option "Touch to sync now", no option to have it sync automatically.  Is that a new update?

Did you mean Droid X or Droid, I am unsure about the droid but if I am using the latest official 2.2 update for the Dreoid X, from the information you decribing sounds like you are accessing the backup assistance, the screenshot is from Launcher > My Accounts >gMail Account Name to see this menu...

I've got the DX 2.3 and I can't find your 3rd screenshot anywhere!

So apparently today my phone decided it would be a good idea to add the sync calendar option to my account.  It didn't exist before, but now it does... so I was able to delete the extra account fortunately.

That menu is only for Google Accounts, all other accounts wont show this menu.

Somehow i had the same issue... my accounts were showing without the checkboxes until i did a factory reset. After I factory reset my phone and only added my gmail account and magically the " Email and Corporate Sync" option is grayed out.

This is one of the main reasons I do a hard reset before updating a os... Some features dont show correctly or even work until a hard reset... When I installed 2.2 the sound volume fix appeared to not work until I reset and then my volume was nice and loud the way it should have been.  Hard Resetting before any OS upgrade may seem pointless but I believe a number of complaints of issues would be avoided if the user simply reset before starting...

I have been having similar issues with synching Google calendar.  It used to work fine - only a few seconds either way - PC-Droid or Droid-PC.  Then the calendar stopped updating.  Both contacts and e-mail work fine.  I can force the synch manually, but this is a pain to do all the time.

A bit of info that might be relavent.  When in the Settings/Accounts/Google Account/Data Synchronization screen, the synch symbol does not disappear from the Synch Calendar line after forcing a synch (All items are "checked" for auto synch).  When forcing a synch manually, each symbol appears and spins and then disappears.  THe calendar symbol spins and then stops, but does not disappear.

You mentioned that a factory reset might cure the problem.  What do I have to re-enter if I do this?  Does this wipe all my data, contacts, photo albums, etc.?

So I can follow all the directions on syncing the calendar with a google calendar, but under the my accounts, there is an option to sync Gmail and Contacts, but there isn't even an option to Sync Calendar.  The screen shot looks exactly like mine, but without that calendar option. I have powered the phone off removed the battery, and still nothing.  Any other suggestions?
