motorola droid mini won't update

My motorola droid mini has not updated since May 2016. My operating system version is Android 4.4.4. When I access the Check System for Updates, it tells me that my device's software is up to date. Yet when you look at the time and date of the last update, it lists Mary 10, 2016 at 8:22 am. How can I manually update the operating system? -- Thanks so much

Yes, I am having problems. I have one app, one that is put out by my insurance company, that won’t work. When I contacted the tech support for my insurance company, they told me that my version of the android OS was outdated and that’s why it won’t work. Any ideas? The app is https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lmig.pm.internet.mobile.android.libertymutual.
