multimedia docking station

Does anyone else have a difficulty placing their Droid X into the multimedia docking station? I have no problem at all when I place the Droid X into the car docking station, with that it just slides right in. However, with the multimedia I feel as if I am going to break the Droid X. I've read that you have to angle it so that the connection go in first but even that causes problems in tryin to fit the Droid into the docking station.

Did Motorola truly test the docking station before distrubing it out?

I mean I should not have to waste time trying to fit the Droid X into this docking station.

It appears that the HDMI connector is the cause of the problem.

Lining up the two input plugs can be a little of a pain but after a while I have been able to plug it in with my eyes closed.   The dock can be a little difficult at times.  I usually just place against back plate before sliding onto plugs and this seems to work well for me...

Thanks...

But I still think that the docking station could and should have been designed better to allow a person to easily slide the Droid X into it.

I do see your point in practicing placing the Droid X into the MM docking station, I hope that you see my point as well.

thanks again

I too had a little trouble getting my "X" into the docking station for about the first week.  I kept trying different ways to get the phone into the docking station and finally found a way that worked for me.  I tip the phone slightly forward from the angle the phone dock will eventually have in the dock.  Then with the left edge of the phone up against the left side of the dock the two connectors line up between the dock and the phone, then with a little downward pressure and leaning the phone back torwards it's final angle in the dock, the phone snaps into place.

I like the dock more than I thought I would when I bought it.  It sits on my desk with a nice sized digital clock and the ability to answer and talk on the phone without removing it fron the dock.  Oh, and it charges the battery at the same time!

I now worry that when I get a 4G LTE phone, if it's not a Motorola product, (like the Droid Bionic) I won't have a nicedesk dock similar to this one that I have come to appreciate so much......

Do you have a case around your phone? I know some docks have detachable inserts that allow more room for a phone to dock. Does your dock have an insert?

And I gave you kudos somehow...

I line up the back of the phone against the silver slab (contains the magnet) and slightly cocked/tilted so the left, camera end, is a little higher (few millimeters).  When I feel the plugs are mated I push down and the phone is in the dock.  Becomes second nature with practice.

This is precisely why I decided not to buy the MM Docking station. I felt like it was going to cause harm to my DX over time by inserting and removing it.
