Have a new Droid X  and can't seem to find the voice recorder  I know i can down load one but would like to use the stock one if I can find it.

There is no stock "Voice Recorder"  - only apps for VOICE SEARCH & VOICE COMMANDS ...  There are some free Voice Recorder apps in market though ...  I installed the app called  "VirtualRecorder" and it works well.

I use tape-a-talk free in the market its simple and lists the files in order of time recorded and stores to the sd card with no issues

Welcome new DX user! Whatever you want the phone to do, there's most likely an app for it. Android has come a long way in a very short period of time. I remember when I got my DX and the app market hardly had any real good apps. Now they're saying by the end of the year, our app market will pass Apple's by the end of the year in the number of apps! Anyway, I wanted to give you some recommendations on apps to get to make your Android experience more enjoyable and helpful. I hope VZW is ok with me doing this. If it is ok, maybe some of the other experienced owners of DXs can also suggest some great apps.. Here we go...

-Lookout.. Antivirus/phone backup/lost phone finder.. This is a necessity above all other apps because of the antivirus!

-Pandora.. Best music app EVER!

-Amazon App Store.. Because they have a paid app for free every day!

-Tesla LED.. Awesome flashlight app that uses the camera flash and has a strobe and Morse code feature!

-Pulse.. News reader app. I use this to read feeds from tech and Android sites to keep up with what's going on and what's new..

-The Weather Channel.. Self explanatory

-Alarm Clock Extreme.. Awesome alarm clock app that has features like shaking the phone to snooze it, and doing simple math problems to turn off the alarms.. For those of us who are snooze addicts.. Highly customizable.

-Driver Diary.. Cool app that keeps track of your gas mileage and servicing. You can even log part numbers, like for oil filters, etc..

-Jefit.. AMAZING app for the gym. Create a routine, logs everything, keeps records on their site, and gives you progress charts..

-Photoshop.. It's free. Doesn't do a lot, but let's you edit photos a good bit..

-Color FX.. Let's you take color out of whatever parts of pictures you want..

-Vignette.. Awesome camera app. TONS of effects/filters..

-Equalizer.. Only works on 2.3.3 Gingerbread. Thanks Wildman!

-Ghosttown.. Another music app like Pandora, but lets you listen to whatever song you type in..

-Soundhound & Shazaam.. 2 good music identifying apps.. Listens to songs and tells you the artist/title..

-Mint.com.. Great app for setting budgets and keeping track of your finances! Free to use. Sync your banking/checking accounts. Gives you automatic budgets, or let's you set up your own. Keeps charts of what you spend your money on by category. You can make custom category (eg, cigarettes, beer, android apps). This app has helped me save money tremendously by keeping track of what I spend!

-Debt payoff planner.. Simple app that let's you put in your bills, payments, due dates. You set how you want to pay them off, and it calculates how much you spend on each to get yourself debt free! I will be deby free in 11 months!!!

-Handcent.. Awesome sms customization app. Let's you customize colors, fonts, etc, on your sms windows. Also, has a pop up notification feature..

-Swiftkey.. Keyboard replacement app. There's a free version. I'm not sure how much I like this on yet. Just got it a few days ago..

-Open Home 6.. I HIGHLY recommend this app!!!! Better than Launcher Pro and ADW Launcher! Let's you customize every icon 1 by 1, or apply a theme to change them all. Also lets you customize the fonts on the app icons AND widgets! You have to download the icon packs/themes/font packs seperately. Some of them cost money, but there's TONS that are free as well..

Widget Locker.. Awesome lock screen replacement. Let's you totally customize with custom sliders and icons. Only thing is you have to download sliders from a forum. Google it if you want to find them. I'm sure the mods wouldn't want me posting the site..

-Astro FIle Manager.. Great app that also lets you back up your apps to SD!

These are all of the great utility apps that I have. I hope that this helps some of the new users out a little. I hope that VZW is ok with me basically plugging apps lol. I'm always looking for new, great apps as well. I just recently got Open Home, Handcent, and Swiftkey because of other people recommending them. I was hesitant to get Handcent and Swiftkey because I thought, why do I need those? The keyboard and sms are fine. Well, when I installed Handcent, I was regretting not doing it sooner!
