new order incredible = no froyo 2.2

Upgraded my old verizon flip phone to the incredible on Thur 8/26 when the Verizon website showed 2.2 on the specs. It came in today. Not a surprise that it only had 2.1 on it. So, those who order the phone on the web through their verizon account, don't be shocked when your phone arrives with 2.1. I guess they must have an inventory of the phones with 2.1 and will keep selling them until a batch of 2.2 phones comes in to replenish inventory. I'll be waiting like everyone else to get their update.

It is misleading in a way to sell something that doesn't come as listed. It was a matter of principle that got lost in my discussion with verizon support last night.  Don't advertise something the customer won't get Verizon, it is dishonest.  Take your documents back to the old ones until you are shipping 2.2 with the device the customer bought from you.  :smileysad:

The detail of the phone on the website also shows the screen is no longer an AMOLED screen.

Wow!  I can't believe Verizon would put all that information on their website and not have it on their phones!  That's false advertisement I would say!  I've been a loyal customer with them for almost 11 yrs now, and this is the first time I've ever waited for something from them...and it's killing me..haha.

For the AMOLED screen, I was told by a rep that they did change the screen cause there wasn't enough being produced to accommodate the phone. Hopefully I get my update very very soon!

That really sucks! No 2.2 Did you call them and release some of your frustration? If you send it back, it could be October before your replacement comes.

What is the item or SKU number of the phone you received?

That's the quandary...if I send it back, I'll probably have to wait awhile to get a replacement.  Maybe go to a store in a couple of weeks if they get a supply of them?  I'll wait until the end of the week for the update...

They are close to losing a customer for life here...(I consider myself a very patient person too, but this gets under my skin...)...

while i completely agree that this is borderline false advertising. they cover their own tails somewhere in their terms. don't recall if it is in terms of service or product details...but somewhere the fine print states that the specs of the device are subject to change without any notification. we discovered this when trying to figure out how they could get away with selling SLCD screen devices when initially all of the hype was over the AMOLED screens. unethical and complete **bleep**....yes. fraudulent....no. what i don't get is WHY they are handling things the way they handle them lately. they had to know this would only cause problems....even if they figured that you'd get the phone and very shortly get 2.2.
