I would like to know, with the new software update on my droid x my battery life has decreased dramatically. does any body have any idea as to why the software is using up the battery?
Mine is doing the same thing and there is a new symbol in the status bar .... looks like it is always working but I can't find anything that is on that wasn't on before!

Yes, please open the notification bar and advised what the symbol looks like. This way I can better determine what you are experiencing.

Hi everyone!
I would like to add that the software updates do reset the power and wireless settings in the phone, so these may have to be re-adjusted in order to preserve battery life.
