They are not freezing the Charge because they do not want to deal with it. I posted the information below on the other Gingerbread update thread, they are freezing it because they are getting ready to roll out Gingerbread and believe that the update will fix many of the problems that people are having.
I went to my local Verizon store today to have my Droid Charge replaced due to some issues I've been having with it recently. I was told by the employee there that I could not have my phone swapped out because they have just issued a freeze on swapping out the Charge due to pushing Gingerbread out, and that it should be out by no later than the end of the month. Being one of the lucky ones that got caught up in the Fascinate update debacle, I take this with a grain of salt, but the thing that keeps me hopeful is the fact that Verizon won't let you switch your phone out. I don't see them doing this unless the update is imminent, otherwise there would be a major backlash. The employee promised that the issues I was having (phone freezing, not recognizing SIM card at times, and losing network coverage) would be resolved with Gingerbread, so I just needed to be patient a little while longer. I question whether or not the update will fix my problems, but I will give it a shot. Thought everyone might find this info useful/promising!

where's DROID CHARGE 2.3.5 GB update this is ridiculous already this phone has so many issues n u do nothing about it! WHERE is GB? my phone reboots 20 times a day :'( and dies so quick!!! I just called Verizon rep n she said that they are freezing the charge from exhange cuss Verizon doesn't wanna deal with the droid charge anymore n thinks of it as a loss cause n profit and wants all to waste our money on the new nexus this Is what the rep said n he sounded honest! !
The Gingerbread update is not going to solve the problems you are having, since your problems aren't common. You either have a defective phone or you have loaded up apps that are making it crash/reboot.

The Verizon Rep I spoke with went up the chain to get some information ...he flatly denied they were freezing anything doing with the charge . If you have a problem call Tech @800-922-0204. Unless your phone is less than 14 days old then take it back . No info on upgrade to GB ...

A rare taste of reality in these forums. Folks, if you want to know how Verizon REALLY operates, just read the above post.
There is no "freeze" on the phone, there is no guarantee of a GB release or when any kind of update will come out. Anything you are reading otherwise is opinion and poorly drawn conclusions.

gabrielpina4,
This is a test, it is NOT a solution. Many folks have replied back to me that this is not the solution they want so let me repeat, this is a test to try to diagnose if low or poor amp hour capacity of your battery might be causing your problem of rebooting 20 times a day.
That said will you please run the following battery test and tell me if it stopped or helped your rebooting problem or for that matter any other problems with your phone?
Plug your phone into the 110 volt charger that can with the phone and fully charge the battery. Then leave the phone plugged into the charger and use your phone for 4-5 hours while it is still plugged into the charger.
It's an easy test and, yes, I know this is no way to use a mobile phone but just try it.
It's Sunday tomorrow so give it a go!

When I step back and look at the "big picture" of a great number of the posts to this thread and many other threads in this BLOG (forum) it appears that to many folks who post just want to complain and vent to Verizon. They are angry and want their phone fixed.
I say this because of all the times I have pushed the idea of a diagnostic battery amperage test only 2 or 3 have responded as to the results of the that test on their phone. In fact more folks have told me that keeping the phone plugged into the charger in NOT a solution and I do agree, it's not a solution, it's a TEST to try to find the problem. One must first diagnose the problem and then find a cure. Isn't that what a medical Doctor does in order to find a cures.
Oh well, soon we will have Gingerbread BUT if your problems are still there after Gingerbread look back through this BLOG (forum) and maybe then you might run the complete fully-charged and plugged-in battery test. Just do it correctly.
For the record, if you test it, I do hope your phone FAILS the battery test because that is so easy to FIX.

Gabriel,
To bad, I'm sorry. It worked for someone else. For now no other ideas except maybe a sharp stick through the display...just kidding.
