phone doesn't get push email, doesn't fetch either, Verizon rep said that's normal...what!?

For a while now my Droid 2 has stopped receiving push email from my exchange email account.  The gmail app works beautifully, often receiving email before the gmail website does.  But the email app in Android that is linked to my corporate exchange account doesn't do anything until I manually refresh it, even though I have it set to the push mode and the fetch mode backup is also activated.  This is not acceptable.

I took my phone into the Verizon store I bought it from to see a tech.  I explained the problem and without even looking at the phone he said this is quite normal and hopefully the next release of the Android OS would fix the bug.  Until then the only thing that can be done is refresh manually.

The biggest reason I got this phone and not a blackberry was because I was given to undertand that it has push email capability.  Am I now to understand that it actually doesn't?  How does Verizon plan to address this?

This is for the Droid 2 Global and the Droid Pro, but in the thread people have said that the Droid 2 and Droid X have the same issue.  Since it is 700+ posts, the bottom line is that Motorola have identified some of the causes of the problem, and will release updates to fix them.  Droid Pro got the first update, with some mixed results.

Lot of anger in the thread, mainly because the Droid 2 Global and Droid Pro were specifically marketed as business phones (the Pro in particular being a Blackberry killer) and many think that reliable Exchange sync should be a key feature of business phones!
