hi everyone, new here, and i cant figure out where my problem lies. withing the past half hour i've gotten at least 3 (i turned my phone off) calls from people i dont know asking why i had called them. there is nothing in my outgoing calls, but when its 3 different people, its hard to chalk it up as a coincidence or wrong number. this combined with the fact that my text messages have been either not sent, or sent multiple times, i have a feeling its a phone issue.

has anyone experienced this at all? i would stop in to my local verizon store except a) they are closed and b) i havent been entirely satisfied with the customer service there before

That is a strange situation, I am not sure what the store can do but it may be worth a try but if you are calling people without any indication of doing it is weird, maybe you could pull up your call log on your account on the site for your account because if its being transmitted from phone the network should have record of it.

I had the same situation happen once, and it was due to a bad USB charger.  The voltage going to the phone was wrong, and caused the phone to malfuction, calling almost everyone in my phone book, and going all together nuts

I would have to agree with Wildman. Were you able to check your online call history to see if these "outgoing calls" are being registered to your phone number?

If you don't see any records, my guess you would a victim of Caller ID Spoofing:

False Caller ID/Caller ID Spoofing is a technique that allows a caller to change the caller identification associated with their number. Cases have been reported where customers were affected by:

  • Contact by a caller whose Caller ID showed "911 Emergency" rather than the actual number of the calling party.
  • Callers impersonating a police officer saying there is a warrant out for the person's arrest, or there is an emergency at their home.
  • Callers impersonating someone else by calling you from a different number in order to play a "trick" on you.

I too experienced this. There are many apps in the Android Market where you download the spoofing application and once downloaded, you enter the phone number you want to have displayed when you call the other party. When the person's phone rings, your FAKE phone number will show up on the caller ID.

Have you gotten any more calls since the original day this happened? If not, I would chalk it up as maybe a friend trying to trick you. If this is still happening, feel free to PM me & I can look into this matter further for you.
