I assume you have a Google account set up. Okay, click on the Gmail icon. Open the menu and go to settings. Go down to Email notifications and make sure the check mark is a glowing green. If it isn't, click on it. Leave. You should be getting Gmail notifications now.
As for Facebook, for some odd reason, I'm having problems as well. It will not let me log on using the icon application. The only way I can get into Facebook is via the browser. Going to my local Verizon store to see if they can figure this one out.

I'm having the same problems with Facebook. I'm really getting annoyed with FB. Does anyone else refresh and still show posts from the day before or several hours earlier and none of the current updates? When I logged in at home I had like 50 notifications. I hope it's just a temporary glitch.
Also with Gmail it was working fine and then stopped, so I played around with the setting and it said the account was not synced with the phone, I checked it to sync and so far so good. Hope that helps with that issue.
Also since we are on the subject of problems, and I'm sorry if this is on another thread, I was looking but didn't find, does anyone know how to save pictures from text messages or email to the phone? I have been trying too and can't. I just got it Thursday and haven't had time to really play with it, also does not help that I can't sync it to my PC at home to add my music or pictures.
I'm liking the phone just have to learn it I guess I will take the tutorial at the Verizon Store that was offered to me. Has anyone taken it? Is it worth it?

Are you looking under camera roll or all photo's/videos??
anything you take from the text/email will be under the "all" section not the roll.

Go to your gmail account and press the menu button and settings. Under Notification settings make sure Email Notifications has a green check, select a ringtone for the notification (I like DROID), and I also have vibrate checked. Works fine and puts the gmail icon in the status bar when the message comes in. I just tested mine by sending a gmail from my puter to my phone and it took about 5 seconds to come in.

try going into your widgets and under android widgets click on Power Control and see if the circle with arrows has the green bar under it ... if not click on it so it has it green under.

As for facebook, I don't use the stock facebook app much, prefering to use Facebook in the browser, too. But on the stock app, there are settings that can be found by opening the stock app and pressing the far left button next to the bottom of the screen. From there, you can enable the various notifications that are posdible in Facebook.
Good luck,
Geri O
