question about ordering Droid X online on 7/15

Hi, I was planning on ordering the DroidX on 7/15. However, I was going to order it as an upgrade on my grandfather's line in our family plan, give him my old phone, and use the droid for myself. Since we are all on the same family plan, I figured this would be fine.

My question is, "If I select his line as the one to receive the upgrade, will the phone ship linked to his number?" I know I can go and deactivate my enV Touch on the website and sync it to his number, but I don't want to have the new Droid X linked to his line by default

I'm not sure about online, but in the store the upgrade does not have to be linked to the number or line.

I plan on doing the same thing! My hubby's line is up for an annual upgrade now and so when I order it online I plan on upgrading his line. When the phone comes I will activate it on my line. You are only extending his line's contract you are not forced to keep the phone on that line though!!!

Someone has suggested activating it on the line you bought it for originally and then change it to the line you want it on!!!
