question about this youtube video for droid x call quality improvement and otterboxes

so i saw this video on youtube about this guy typing in some numbers to improve the call quality of his droid x. i wanted to see what u guys thought of this. isnt it kinda wrong/dangerous to do these kind of stuff to your own phone?

That is a program setup menu that all phones have but you shouldnt play around with it unless you are shore you know what you are doing to avoid any issues...

yeah. i dont understand why people want to rish mucking up a $600 phone that they had to work hard to pay for just to mess it up before the warranty is up.

I really dont see a reason to do the modification anyway, its cool to try out new things with programming but you have to acknowledge the risk that comes with the changes.

EVRC-B isn't available in all areas. It's generally only available in Large Metro Cities, but you will have great call quality anyways, so it's kinda self defeating. It doesn't increase Signal strength any, it just changes the Codec that your phone uses to transfer signal to voice, but the tower you are using must be compatible with it.
