This is my 3RD DX everyone...I had thought I read enough on these forums to maybe follow through with the perfect update and FR. Everything seemed fine, but two weeks later...(well we all know the DX/GB problems) I need another replacement. What instructions should I follow through with in order to NOT have this 3RD DX be yet again another dud??? Would appreciate any thoughts or well experienced information if possible, so VZW...where you at? Tell me how!?

Well obviously no one can give an answere to the instructions I should go about...got the refurb in my lap and looks like I'll have to take matters into my own hands. Thanks for nothing but looking. Especially you VZW!!! Were a major help! (sarcastic laugh)

You might want to give more information on what you have done and tried already, also I just don't get the reason users are sending devices in for replacements if the issue seems to be software.... I have 2.3 on my device and it has ran flawless but I get not all devices react the same...
What type of issue where you having anf why is it that you thought a new device would make things diffident?
More Information may help....

format your sd card
also explain what your issues are, most likely you didn't even need the first replacement

It took two weeks for your phone to start showing issues? I smell a bad app.
The other person's correct - you probably didn't need to have the first replacement.

Have a Droid Charge that I've been letting sit until the next software update since the consistant data dropping. So I had HAD THIS DX "Refurb" sitting as well while on the Charge. Had the DX activated for ONE day because the next day my Charge came in the mail. (Ebay) So the "2weeks" I was referring to was when I had disconnected the DX for the Charge. I had done a full ERASE of ALL apps, all cache, all data and a final HARD RESET before laying the DX down for a couple weeks. Now when I had SWITCHED yet again as I stated above, I had activated it, still running .596. I already had seen the update info while I was playing with the Charge so I knew my DX was still going to be running .596 when I start it back up. So I had went to my settings, system update. Got the .602 and had did ONE final FR after the update completed and rebooted. All had seemed well as I had said before until I had went into the "android market" app. I know as many others do, after a FR the market seems to be the "old" version still. Went to the "my apps" section and it showed the loading indicator, then BLANK. No "my apps" strange. So I let it sit awhile. Go back to market and the update had pushed its way through. Accepted the "rights", loaded up. Went to "my apps" again...loading...BLANK! and no update notifications for any of the pre-installed apps yet. (which I knew were going to HAVE to be updated again.) All seemed too laggy so I turned my phone off, AND THERE IT IS...2-3 minutes later, my phone RESTARTS on its own!!! NO DOWNLOADED APPS YET! So I let it load (obviously) Go back yet again to the Market. Do a random search "battery" and start scrolling down the list, and my screen was SOOO laggy. Seemed almost like a wave effect and theres a point where I was seeing the words in the descriptions on the apps chop up at an angle as I scrolled down. Ive even had one widget able to stick on top of another widget!!! Missed texts from my girlfriend, shes recieved duplicates before from me as I from her and a few other contacts. My girl has a refurb DX as well that she'll be getting replaced as well, SHE HAS HAD NUMEROUS amounts of problems with her phone as well and she uses hers less then I use mine...her's has gotten sooo bad to the point where its had to get battery pulls. So many freezes, lock ups and restarts...check it out. Motorola Droid X So that is the story. We've got our OG DX's back in March on FROYO, worked amazing...then .596 GB came...ruined our first ones...reboots, freezes and other consistant problems even after troubleshooting. Replacements we got now...Same...worse since the .602 update in my opinion. So I hope this fresh one is good, But like I said, I want to take every precaution with this one and dont want to do anything wrong when it comes to the set up and update if its already not...So info away anyone...anything helps and Im willing to do ANYTHING to have the decent phones we deserve that we've paid EXTREME amount of money for on top of our $200 (roughly) monthly bill...feel like I'm being assaulted by a cellular company...2 years! WHY!? lol.

problem is not always apps....geeez. I get so tired of seeing that as an excuse....I had the same apps on my phone prior to getting GB and had no problems whatsoever. Once I got GB is when I started having problem after problem. Multiple FRs and while one problem would be fixed another would arise.
Don't get me wrong, I love the DX, but the phone you are getting replaced will just get flashed when it gets back to Verizon and then go out to someone else who needs a replacement. I wish they would flag some of these phones and send them off to engineering to truly find out what the problem is. That's how you fix problems....not this 'just send them a replacement or tell them to do a FR'

Once I got GB is when I started having problem after problem. Multiple FRs and while one problem would be fixed another would arise. That right there almost PROVES my point about apps being the problem. It's a different software. Of course different things are going to affect it differently than the previous version. It's a computer, and should be treated as such. All these people who refuse to believe that apps actually cause issues with phones, I would be horrified to see their computers.

That's how you fix problems....not this 'just send them a replacement or tell them to do a FR' I actually agree with this. All of these refurbished phones are getting re-circulated because Verizon's not actually setting out to FIX them. They're just whiping each DX they get sent in for a warranty replacement, and sending it back out as one. So essentially, there is absolutely no use to get a warranty replacement anymore.

With this done, had you gone into your settings under privacy and made sure that "Back up my data" was not checked. If it was checked, any settings that you had on your previously loaded apps would just be downloaded again from Google if/when you download the apps after a FR. After the FR and before downloading any apps from the Market, go back into settings under privacy and make sure that "Back up my data" is still not checked as I believe that after a FR this being checked may be the default.

Yes I had done that with the last one. (as I'm on the "new" refurb.) Saddly when I was activating this one I was pushing "next" too many times in the beggining and I accidentally pushed next when google asks if I want to back up my data But suprisingly it's acting alright for now. Only have one app I downloaded which is Facebook for android. Almost 24 hrs and all is well. (for now) But get this, I was wiping down the screen on my girls "new" refurb with a micro-clothe before applying a screen protector and a little above the middle of the screen I noticed a bubble would appear everytime I wiped past it...water damage? straight out the package? Possibly a replaced screen due to PAST water damage? Don't know but looks like she'll be getting her #4 DX soon as they get the one we sent back...I dont understand why they dont fully INSPECT these phones before sending them back out as stated above...looks like we'll keep recieving these B-slaps until verizon or motorola feel sorry for us and actually GIVE us what we deserve...sad world when the "best network" company never lives up to their full potential...thats the update with the refurbs everyone...will keep posted on any other news...thanks for the input everyone.
