Brand new Droid Charge with latest update. When attemptiong to view contacts in standalone mode or via the phone app, it crashes with the above message. Essentially making the phone porion of this device worthless. Assistance please. I'm leaving in 2 days for a trip so this needs to be fixed or the phone gets traded back in with a bad taste in my mouth or Android.

Try a soft reset to see if that reinstalls the "android.process.acore" that stopped.
Go here to see how.

At the above URL there also is another URL to a description on how to remove and reinstall the battery. You might look at or copy it too.
Have a nice trip!
Hope this helps,

This is usually due to a corrupt contacts database. Unfortunately, the fix usually a reset to factory defaults. Knowing what I know now, I would take it back for a new one while it is under the 14 day period. My wife's had this problem early and it got progressively worse. Ended up with a CLNR unit which may or may not do better over time.
