In the default app it's Menu > Settings > Select Ringtone, but the it does not support different ringtones for different senders. If that is what you want, you'll need to download Handcent or ChompSMS.
You can download the app called Ringo Lite. Then assign a ringtone to text messages or assign a text ringtone to each contract.
