i accidently erased the phone dialer....how do i get it back.
Sorry I would like to help but this subject can not be discussed here because this voids warrenty and is in breach of TOS in your contract, there is other sites that can assist you but this can not be answered here because of the rules of forum and contract.
Try googling Android Central because this may be a good place to start or XDA Developers.
I am guessing you are speaking of the icon bacuse it is not possible to delete any stock apps...
Solution 1:
Try opening app tray and scroll to "Dialer" and press and hold and icon will be dropped to desktop
Solution 2:
Press in middle of page and select "Shortcuts / Dialer
I don't know....I rooted my droid and deleted the dialer icon in the menu. now my phone wont receive anything
I would try searching on the market for a dialer, if that doesn't work then not sure seeing as it now has a void warranty.

This is exactly the reason that Motorola didn't want a rooted device. People who don't know what they are doing delete files that they should not.
Short answer is: you voided your warranty. If you attempt a hard-reset at this point it will likely brick your phone. Your best option is to go to the same website where you learned how to do what you did and ask there.
Asking that sort of question here is like asking the Police if you can borrow their K-9 unit to find your lost drugs. Or calling the Cable company to report an outage on cable tv that you are stealing from them.

+1 .... I've never undersood the Jail-breaking or Rooting mentality ... The DROID X (seems to) works great (for me) in its native form. IMHO ... I have friends that did the Jailbreal thing on their iCrap and are now "stuck" and can no longer get upgrades.

There are purposes for it, however you should know what your doing before you mess with it. I mean seriously, if someone told you that you could get better gas mileage on your car, would you just run out there with a hammer and pickle and start beating away in the engine compartment? Because you're essentially doing the same thing when you randomly delete files and programs.
1. download rsdlite 1.9 on your computer.
2.download the full sbf file
3. hold down camera button, volume down and power button.
4. from your pc run rsdlite and navigate to the sbf file downloaded.
5. hook up your phone to pc via usb.
6. press start.
this will restore your phone to out of box condition. just the way it was when it was new.
I see this all the time. Too many people root and you run the possibility of just making a mess of things.
Have patience. an update is coming.

I dont see the problem with this post. A fellow droid xer needs help with his or her phone. Isn`t that what this forum is for? The sbf file is released by motorola. I`d rather have access to this info than a non working brick any day.

the r word is aviolation of tos, and usually gets deleted real fast
the mods must be asleep, as this is the longest ive ever seen this topic stay
now, for real help head over to xda
i don`t see instructions on doing the nasty lil thing the mods look down on but instead help in undoing what should never have been done by someone who didn`t have the skill level to do in the first place. The sbf file is made and distributed my motorola. It`s an avenue one takes to fix what may be ailing someones phone should problems arise.

The problem is that in order to fix the issue you are instructing a user to use software that is the property of the manufacture that isn't suppose to be in a users hands because it is distribute to software developers and isn't suppose to be distribute to everyone, so to instruct them to use this is just as bad as instructing them to void there warranty with the "R" method in Verizon's eyes and if you read the details of agreement for the forum it breaks the TOS rules.
If this isnt a issue with the manufacture, they would have CAD (cease and desist) for users found posting the SBF or unreleased roms.
Now just to make it clear, I am not against helping users but the forum rules are present for a reason, Verizon does not support unauthorized software because when a device is damaged by using this software the user will understand that this voided warranty and the device wont be replaced through factory or insurance policies.
There is only one reason I can think of as to why this thread hasn't been modified. It shows the dangers and reasons in modifying the phone and gaining the access to the Android OS in a manner as the "r" word.With that said, the OP would have been better off with their specific questions in a forum that openly discusses the topic and fixes.
