Just hurry up and wait
I am one of the lucky owners who worry about what it might break and not what it will fix.

I also checked the software update page on the Verizon website, and it still shows Froyo as the current Android version.

Nothing for me either. I just removed my battery and rebooted it and nothing yet. I love my Droid X and Verizon coverage is awesome, but the company is shockingly obtuse sometimes. Most of us out there are clinging to any news that 2.3 may be on the way and Verizon is silent....I would think it would make sense for them to interact more with the people that pay generous amounts of money for monthly service, phones and insurance etc.
As I've said before, even if they were vague and issued a statement like: 'We are working on an update and will push it out as soon as it's ready for prime time". It's vague and doesn't promise anything concrete, but it sounds re assuring to us phone geeks and shows that the company is interactive with customer service. Right now, the only personal interaction I can see is here in the forums, which I have to thank Verizon for providing.
Verizon should have a department dedicated to customer service interaction, particularly at an internet level. It would be supportive and certainly improve the interaction with the customer which in turn would promote a good company image, something Verizon doesn't have now. It wouldn't cost a lot of money for this effort either. Something to think about.....

They already have a department like that...... Isnt it called Customer Service , also some users stated that they contacted CS and they gave the vague answer you said you wanted that they are working on a update, you can try to call and see if you get any info but I really doubt that you will get any reliable answer.

Thats the point Wildman, Verizon Customer service is vague and usually a bit limited in what they say. Maybe it's not their fault, but I think an effort to be more affable from a standpoint of looming updates and other news would be a good thing. Verizon is quite aloof about those things. As I said before, I usually get a better response to a question when I enter it in the forums here. You have replied to questions I've had in the past.
I guess my point was that if you replace the aloof answers at a customer service level with something a bit more substantial
(I've been told in the past that Verizon had no updates planned for a HTC Touch Pro 2 I had a long time ago and the next morning there was a Windows 6.5 update...) it was a substantial update and widely anticipated, yet the day before, Verizon said there were no updates planned.....
I am a big fan of the forums and the answers and candor I get here. My comment was never meant to inflame anyone in the forum.

Im not disagreeing with you be=ut latly others choose to blast when I said this before, when 2.2. and 2.2.1 was released I was told that no update was avalible when I was looking at my device that already had the update pushed and installed on my device.
I just dont expect anything anymore until it officially hits my device and is verified.
Also this is one of the reasons that no official information is announced because if something changes and it doesnt get released they probally dont want to deal with the number of ccomplants that will come from the change.

get off the whiny wagon.
i'm not aware of verizon cs ever giving a date for the release of gb, are you?
it's come from speculation, what if's, wishfull hoping or someone having a relative who works at vrizon or possibly a verizon employee logging in and starting a rumor.

I really dont see the need for the rush because my device has function well on Froyo and GB so I really dont care if it comes or not because the device is doing what is needed for me. Basically all the upgrades between the two isnt extreme, I like some of the transition and UI mods but the new API is my plus factor, more friendly to the developers
When all said and done, my phone works fine with Froyo so its not a major requirement.

Verizon is darned if they do, darned if they don't. Say nothing and offend. Say a little and be slammed for not saying more. Say too much (like giving a release date) and be slammed when the date is pushed back. As for the gb RUMORS, I LOVE saying I TOLD you so. The 10th, the 13th, and probably more rumored release dates come and go. How many more threads will be started about it? I am only adding to it by replying again, but did I say I told you so?Isnt the world grand
? I agree to the fullest so many want EVERYTHING NOW but never ever happy when they do get it.

So dates has been flipped around so many times, every time update doesnt happen when it was reported they just move it up a week or so... No one really knows exactly when or if this will drop and playing the tag team dates game wont help...
No offense intended but it will come when it come..
