there are two different features. one.....when you go to text somebody, touch the microphone icon on the keyboard and you can speak what you want to type. i use it often and it is VERY accurate as far as speech recognition goes (no system is perfect). the other feature is that you can touch the google voice command icon from your home screen and command it to text a contact and tell it what to type, all at the same time. i've tried repeatedly to use this feature and it never works though. but if you want to try, then check out this link:
