update on droid

well i went to install the update on my phone and now my phone wont turn on, its just stuck on the first screen with the Motorola symbol. Happen to anybody after update or before? anyway to fix it without going to verizon?

My Droid did the exact same thing.  Called Verizon they said to call motorola, Motorola said to call Verizon.  Two days later got a refurb Droid in the mail...

I did exactly the same this morning and I got the same problem, I took my phone to a VZW store in Rte 611 in stroudsburg, PA ;they try to fix it but unfortunately they couldn't, so I was told that it was a software problem and it seems I wasn't the only customer with that problem, there was a girl with the same issue. So finally I was told that they will send me a new phone via mail but in order for me to get it I should have a $00.00 balance on my account.....After having a bad time I left the store and called customer service, they told me that I don't need to have a 0 balance and they place an order for my new phone, but....why I didn't get the same answer in the VZW store?, why we have to wait for a phone to be mailed??, don't they have phones available at the stores for new or existing customers???, aren't they supposed to "help and do their best in order to keep existing customers like us???, and couldn't this issue be avoided, maybe by testing the update on a couple of phones first and make sure it works properly before the update was sent to all customers so we don't have to go through all this and be with no phone for maybe a whole weekend?. This type of issues can make a customer change his mind and get service with another provider for a cheaper cost and a better service.

The store might not have had any refurb'd/certified like new phones.  I'm betting the one you receive in the mail will be in a brown box and not be a new one.  And Verizon/Motorola can't test every possible situation.  And with the relatively small number of people who are getting the 'M' of death, I'm guessing the problem is likely related to an app conflict or corrupt downloads

Just like I said in my post....theres a reason I didn't get an iPhone!. Now.......hmmmmmm I may reconsider anyway IF Verizon doesn't take care of me. I think they will though. They have so far and we have a huge company acct there. They don't want to lose it!

My Droid has done the very same thing yours has. It has been stuck on the "M" screen since attempting to get the update this morn. My daughter, however, recieved her update just fine and it was done in less than 10 minutes. Her phone rebooted and the update was done! It's an awesome update!! I'm just really upset that mine has gotten "stuck" somewhere in the middle of this update. I had actually just been in the Verizon Store last SUnday b/c mine had just started blacking out during calls and completely locking up. I could hear the person I was talking to but they couldnt hear me. THe techs said they did a check on my phone and couldn't find anything wrong with it. THe person I spoke to on the phone today told me that theres a glitch in my phone BUT I'm not the 1st to call and complain about this update freezing my phone. I even tried a hard reset......didn't work! I have to call the 800# tomorrow and have them send me a new phone b/c the store here are out of them! What an inconvenience!!!! NOT AT ALL HAPPY with Verizon and the handfull of Droids affected with this problem. Last check on another websites forum was something like 614 complaints on this problem. Oh and good luck with that not going into the store.....u may be able to just get away with calling the 800#like me. I don't know. But to be without MY phone, muchless A phone......way to inconvenient. I don't have an iPhone for a reason!! I LOVE my Droid and, as everyone, so look forward to our updates. BUt this time around.....I couldve done without it! Now I have to deal with it. I shouldn't have to. They should also give me another phone to use until my new one arrives. Don't know if that will happen .....doubtful! I wish now i wouldnt have agreed to accept todays update.

I jus got my upDate last night around 10:15pm...only thing that is happening with my phone is the setting for incoming text...I have 2 keep setting it 2 the tone I pick, but the system seems 2 like OMG by Usher....sounds nice but not what I want.
