I have an upgrade on the 5th, wonder if I should put the order in for the X or wait and see what the 2 has in store... Any suggestions??
Also if I do order it on the 5th wonder if it will ship around the 19th.
I have been using my broken phone since May and have held off this long....

I am not sure how the Droid 2 will be. You can go ahead and order the Droid X. Droid 2 is supposed to be released later on. You do have 30 days to test out a phone. If you don't like it or something is wrong with it,you can switch to a different new phone
Checked the Verizon site today. The Droid X will be, "shipped by August 23rd." I ordered mine the day before yesterday, when it still said the 19th. The bummer about that is that I leave for vacation on the 17th. So unless they ship the thing 4 days early, I have to wait till I get back from vacation. I did have it shipped to work though so I don't have to worry about it going back because of lack of signature!
I got mine much earlier than the site said so you might get lucky.
This seems to be the general trend from posters on this forum...lets hope that their experience is the precedence? I ordered mine on the 1st of August, and people who ordered it a day before received it as early as the 4th. Understandibly, when it comes to inventory for a corporation the size of Verizon, the inventory available will be based on a geographical region. I'm on the West Coast, and I'm wondering if I will be as lucky as the others (whose location we do not know). Lets hope that the proposed ship date is a courtesy of caution and not the actual ship date!

the Droid 2 is like an updated version of the original Droid, smaller, slide out keyboard, its not in the same line as the Droid X
