verizons new data plans

anyone else seen the leaks of the new plans its looking like a minimum of of 30 bucks for 2 gb of data ....really verizon YOUR troubleshooting asks me to reset my phone with any issues and doing that 2 or 3 times a month eats up that much data trying to put apps back on the phone i dont do a lot of videos or online gaming just general web browsing and im around 6gb every month without trying if this is the case then why stay with verizon when unlimited data was all that they had going for them.

I have seen the new rumored pricing sheet and they are not something I am game for but they are reporting also that users already on unlimited may be Grandfathered into the plan still but of course this means the next upgrade you will loose the plan. I am going over 6 Gig myself so this will effect me as well..

I am not sure this is true but I figured it was coming, to many bragging about exceeding 30 Gig a month with the illigal methods of tethering..

the thing is i really dont do much heavy data usuage i have no idea that i would be able to stay below 2gb and now with netflix starting which i was looking forward to im sure one movie or a few shows would blow that away ....come on verizon i pay more because you offer more data and better coverage but if you think ill pay 30 more a month you are insane ...

Will no one really knows what will come from this info but if you do not plan to make any changes to your device or account you should be ok and still be able to keep the plan you are on..... Guess we just have to wait and see before we will know for sure..

You have to be kidding. $30 for 2 GB? Well, I either go back to a "dumb" cell phone, or, after all these years with Verizon start looking at other carriers. Receiving Email will eat that up in a blink of an eye. Going on the net and browing will eat that up faster than you can say Rip Van Winkle. Does Verizon really want to lose customers, faithful customers at that?

The fact that the rumored price for the 2 GB is $30 and higher than AT&T's pricing for the same thing doesn't make me very happy.

The least they could have done was match AT&T's at 2 GB for $25 or undercut it somehow.

So glad I would be grandfathered into the unlimited

I saw that and my only complaint was the higher price. I do not use that much data per month but do think $30 is excessive for 2 GB. I think they should have matched AT&T's rates.

I wish they structured it to have a $25 plan for 2 GB or less. I am not using anywhere near 2 GB so $5 less would be better. Oh Well.

Here's my take on this.....

The tiered data plans won't affect our cost at all. I use about 500MB/mo, my wife uses about 600MB/mo and our daughter uses about 900MB/mo. Also, probably 95% of Verizons customers will be just fine with the $30/2GB plans. Verizon has just decided to make the bandwidth hogs pay for what they're using. Also, don't think Sprint and T-Mobile will be thrilled about all their new customers because they'll mostly be high data users that will put additional strain on their already strained networks.

I'll be happy when the bandwidth hogs change to a different carrier, because that just means without the strain the "hogs" put on Verizons network, my 3G data speeds and eventually 4G data speeds will increase. And this will be at no additional cost to me.

This is the way most busineses work. Use all the data (or whatever commodity you choose) you want, just pay for it. Do you think you'll ever see Sears having a television sale..... Whatever size you want, from 21" all the way to the 80", same price, $495.00.

Right on the money.... That's 890.4 mg and this means you are not even at a gig yet, 1 gig is 1024 megs so you are doing good so far, that's not to heavy of use.

Just checked my data usage and I was surprised to see that I am, so far, less than one gig. I believe it was 0.78 GB. I was surprised. What with my Emails, surfing the net, and updating apps I thought for sure I'd be way over 2 GB. All I can say is "Surprise!" :smileyvery-happy:

Help me here. I use my droid a LOT (at least what I consider al lot). E-mail, Pandora, on line games, web browsing, etc. I looked at my previous statements and on my absolute busiest months I was slightly under 2GB. For those users that have more than this, what are you doing that is causing your usage to be so much higher?

I didn't read all the past posts. Are the existing clients grandfathered in or do we have to switch to the tiered data plan? I average just over 2 Gig per month, ususally like 2.02 gigs or 2.11 gigs.

I use 6-7 gigs, I basically E-mail, Pandora, web browsing same as you but I also watch youtube videos and also I service PC's and have to regurly download drivers and remote systems to edit admin rights for customers.

Since getting my Tbolt, I have not only gone over the 1 GB ceiling that I never got to with the Droid Eris, but I have been in the 2.1 to 2.6 GB range. Makes me wonder what the it would be on 4G LTE.

That does include posting on here, Speedtest.net app tests, and occasional hotspot experiments while VZW has a promotion for it. Plus a few other miscellaneous things.

There should be no difference in the amount of GBs used between 3G and 4G. A gigabyte is a gigabyte. The difference is the speed. 4G downloads are much faster than 3G, but the amount of the download will be the same.
