Has anyone experienced this problem as well? I can type a sentence and then following slowly after I am finished the words slowly come out on the screen. Very annoying!
See other reply to your general issues ... as far as just the keyboard, I'd try the "System Clear Cache" procedure if you want to address JUST that problem. Does the Keyboard problem behave the same way in SAFE MODE? It REALLY sounds like you have a rogue APP sucking the life out of your CPU .. You can download "SYSTEM PANEL" from market .. it has some nice trouble-shooting stuff for trying to see what is consuming the CPU. (e.g., it shows you what is actively Running and how much Processor usage is going on by which Apps.) Again, it might be time just to do a factory reset.
Which phone do you have?
PS -- try this: menu > settings > applications > Manage applications > Select all .. then scroll down to Muti - touch keyboard & select it - then press > clear Cache / clear Data
That has fixed the keyboard Lag for most people.
(PS - the SEARCH Bar just above the list of phones up above -- you can find a LOT of the issues you're having already reported & talked about & solution suggestions .. since the GB update has been out for over 7 months. Good luck.)
I have done that to many times, I have a different ROM now. That doesnt
have any one thing from verizon on it at all.
I restored back to OEM 2.2 Froyo and everything worked faster and way more
stable than any software updates that had been done OTA, I ended up
Installing a custom ROM and that has helped every issue that I myself ever
had with lagging or hanging up.

post how you backed up to 2.2 please, it's been said it can't be done.
