Virus protection is useless as of now. Its an app that merely drains the battery.  There have not been any reported "viruses" on the android Linux based programing.  While some have malware, they are quickly removed from the market by google.

So far, just becareful of what you download and do not download app from websites, only the market.

I have had my Droid since Day 2 of the release and no "viruses" yet. Remember the phone is Linux based... MOST viruses are IOS or Windows.  Thats another prob with Apple I-phone, viruses can go from computer to phone sinces its the same system.

Yes, I have Norton Mobile Security for the phone.  I just bought it (not cheap at $32.00) and so I can't say how well it is working.  I also use Norton on my computers and am generally happy with their programs.

I dont own a Charge but I use Kaspersky AntiVirus on my Droid X and Thunderboly for some while but a number of users have been using LookOut and I believe that at this moment protecting your device with a virus scan isnt a bad ideal.

+1 for Lookout Security and Antivirus.  Been using it for three weeks now, no major issues.  Noticed a minimal impact to performance but that's a small price to pay for a FREE app that protects you from sketchy apps.  Like the fact it can locate my phone if lost or stolen.

Here's a link to app in Android Market https://market.android.com/details?id=com.lookout

You must haven't researched the Google and Android forum because not only have Malwares been on the Market but they have made it to a number of users devices and Google simply removed the infected app from site and also the users device, also to believe that Linux or any OS is unhackable you are seriously mistaken..  Maleware isn't the only way to attack a system.

Another thing that a number of users seem to not consider is that you hook your device to a PC and a exploit can be placed on your device to use the PC to infect your system and device, why do you think antiviruses scan for cross platform exploit data to avoid just this issue?

And one more thing, hackers use exploits to modify Android devices daily, how do you think root access is accomplished, if they can do this to modify files on devices to grant access why cant the programers use this to damage your device because they can use it now to transmit your data out your device to a storage server?

Just because you close your eyes to the real world doesn't mean that it isn't there.
