Yet they permit those devices on their network and even sell them.  Given this fact they are pretty hollow words.

not that I really care to take VZW's side but how does a company provide "support" for devices on which they have NO control ?  I get a phone, do something funky to it and the camera or WiFi stops working, is it VZWs responsibility to help me fix it?

they don't provide support. it clearly states that you void your warranty under these circumstances. i think many people would just like to have the option, and don't care that they would void their warranty.....but verizon has no obligation to provide any type of support once you have altered the device. or many others might want to do this after their warranty is up and verizon wouldn't help them anyway.

i find it really funny that you decided to take down my post tell me it violated verizons TOS(which by the way IT DID NOT) then put it back up edited because i said verizon HAS NO RESPECT FOR DEVELOPERS. they do not. and by pulling down my post then editing it and putting it back up i feel that you are just abusing your power as a mod. verizon has no respect for android, the open handset alliance, the developers, the android community, google, or the FCC.

there are plenty of programs that threaten network security that you can install on the phone right out of the box. most of them can be found in the market in the form of viruses. i dont see verizon doing anything about that

But for those folks who don't care about support or warranty isn't this pretty much a non issue? Those people already do what they want with their devices....

if you know what you are doing. you dont need any type of verizon support. sbf files are readly avalable. and so are fastboot files(p.s. doc that is not hacking it is used in the reset prosess that cverizon does in the store. and motorola provides the loading program. and MOST of these files come signed from verizon because they have to be signed by verizon and moto to be bootloaded on our locked bootloaders.)

people that want this dont need or want verizon support. ive bricked my phones before and re loaded the verizon approved operating system just like they would do in the store if you have something wrong with your phone like a bad or corrupt update. it happens more than you think. verizon pushes an ota update and bricks a lot of phones throwing them in to a bootloop

really the only threat to the network is excessive bandwith use. and the fcc states that isnt a good enoungh reason to lock down a phone
