Exactly what is it you wish to do? If you are trying to use your DX as a modem, that costs, you must set up an account for that purpose. If you are trying to move files from your pc to your DX or visa versa, once you connect the two, you will notice an USB symbol in the notification bar of the DX. Pull the bar down and tap on the icon. Choose "Mass Storage."

Another thing to consider is that the Droid X does not support USB tether by default because it has the mobile hotspot capability... Oh and that requires a plan to use like already pointed out.

Thanks guys. I wanted to try out the usb tetherimg, but I'll give the wifi hotspot a workout instead. I just didn't understand why VZW didn't let me do this via usb cable, my preferred option.Fair Point has a $9.99 dsl offer, and I wanted to try out tethering, to see how well it might work for me, before I sign up for 6 mos of dsl. 20 bucks for 2gb seems over the top pricey tho.

Im confused, what does Fair Point deal have to do with USB tethering? it uses the phones data connection no matter if you use USB or Hotspot, the only diffrence is that one has to be plugged into PC USB to use and the other connects wirelessly through wifi card.. Neither goes through another pervider.
