working in Japan

Hi,

I am in Tokyo in business and I have an international account with Verizon.

I can't get my phone to do anything.  It won't make calls, get online, check email, nothing.

What do I have to do to make my phone work in Japan?

Thanks,

Marc

While in Japan, CDMA only devices can only receive text messages and picture/video messaging is not available.

You can use your current Verizon Wireless phone, or a Global Phone  in CDMA Mode, to make and receive calls in over 40 international countries and US. Territories.

If you are going to travel abroad to any CDMA country follow these steps:

  1. Verify you have International Dialing capability on your phone by dialing 611 to reach a Customer Service Representative before leaving the United States.
  2. Dial *228 to update your roaming capabilities.
The I-dial feature would need to be added before leaving the United States as well as having the phone updated.

Try powering the device off then back on.
Then  making a call on the device by using the dialing rules for that area.
The dialing rules can be found at the link below.

Copy and paste the link below into your browser's address bar for more information.
