wrong name on gmail account

The salesman at Verizon set up my new DroidX with the wrong last name on my gmail account so that all my messages out show from my maiden name (which upsets my husband).  How do I fix this without dumping everything?

Since it is your "maiden" name, not sure how the salesman was able to put THAT name on the gmail account unless YOU gave it to him.

Regardless, you can go into your Gmail settings, and change this to read your husband's last name.

Open up Gmail and hit the menu button then settings.

I tried gmail--more--settings--signature.  That effort accomplished nada.  Am I taking the wrong direction?

Thanks.  After editing the google account, it now shows the correct name in the inbox but, wierdly, shows the other name when the e-mail is opened.  Go figure.  I tried to call Google and couldn't get to a human.

1) Last reply has the right options to correct your issue! (https://www.google.com/accounts/ManageAccount)

In manageAccount options for you to change your First/Last name with the email you or whom ever setup your account.

good luck getting google support to answer your calls... they mostly rely on web forms or online boards for issues or help.

2) Another option: setup another account (gmail) with your correct info.

2.a) reset your phone and then choose your new email account you setup.

3) Best bet is to go through accounts/manageaccount through gmail for changes.

hopefully this helps and good luck
