Bogus Caller ID on TV One STB, phone doesn't ring, call doesn't show in call log

During the day we receive 2-3 caller id displays on the TV per hour. Every one are unrecognizable to us. These do not show in the call log provided by Verizon.

Test calls we have placed from our cell phones to the FIOS Digital Voice line ring, display correctly, and show in the call log.

This behavior started when we upgraded to FIOS TV One equipment earlier this month.

I have captured inbound UDP packets arriving for the STB on port 63145 from the FIOS service node (18.214.209.84). Both the real calls and the bogus caller id displays are produced by identically addressed packets.

Why is the Verizon service node sending caller id display packets for calls that do not ring ?

I have the traditional Verizon Fios cable television service as opposed to Fios+, so I'm not familiar with the operation of Caller ID on that particular platform.

If you were on the legacy Fios television service before switching to Fios+ did Caller ID operate as expected?
Before making test calls to your landline, try entering *67 before the area code to block delivery of your mobile phone's telephone number and see what happens.

There is also the possibility that calls being received from who knows where are either not receiving an originating telephone number, or one that is too long to be properly displayed.

Depending on what the results of the test calls is, my thought would be to reach out to Verizon Repair for further investigation. ๐Ÿ˜
