I recently got Verizon home phone service. In setting up the voicemail, I noticed that I could get notifications of voicemails by text message and by email. That's helpful, so I checked the relevant boxes and inserted the relevant email address and SMS numbers. But when I tested to see if I got notified when I left a voicemail, no notifications arrived.
Today I spoke to someone in Verizon tech support about this. He said he didn't think such a feature was available, though he couldn't explain why then there was a setup for it both on the Verizon website and in the MyVerizon app.
Then I tried online chat and again was told that it didn't exist, and was helpfully given a link to the Fios Digital Voice user guide which, I was told, made no mention of any such feature. Within about 2 minutes of downloading the user guide, I found, on p. 31, that it says: " You will be alerted at home when messages arrive by an interrupted dial tone and/or message waiting light on your phone (if equipped). You can also be notified by email, wireless SMS text
notification, pager notification or Special Delivery (at another telephone number). "
Ok, so the feature exists, though tech support seems unaware of it.
But can anyone suggest what I need to do to get the feature to work?
Thanks!
