need to immediately cancel my deceased mother’s landline account

Hello,

I need to fully cancel my deceased mother’s Verizon landline account immediately before any additional charges  are incurred.  I attempted the cancelation by calling customer service on January 21, 2025,  and despite having all of the required identification and account information, I was told that the account would need to be authenticated by actually receiving a call on her phone ONLY to do so.   This is simply not feasible since I live an appreciable distance from her home and need to have this taken care of ASAP.  It is an account that originated under Bell of Pennsylvania dating back to the 1960s where Verizon acquired the account during the 2000s.

Please have a member of your CS staff contact me ASAP to have this resolved.
