$400 Samsung Promotion at Best Buy - Home Offer

I looked into various internet options when I moved this month (June 2025) and settled on Verizon and bought the highest plan available in my area - the 1 gb plan. They had some good deals that made going with them worth compared to the cheaper competition who offered similar internet speeds. I was excited to use the $400 Samsung promotion at Best Buy to buy a tv to replace the one I left behind due to my move. I went out to the local best buy and bought a tv that qualified for the promotion. Despite verbiage saying the discount would work in store and online, it only worked online for me. I ended up purchasing a new tv, after the long debacle of picking out the tv and carrying it to the front but then having to do the online order in order to utilize the discount code. I got home and realized the tv would not work for the space in the new house and returned the tv, box unopened, the next day. Best Buy did not allow me to exchange the tv with the original discount code so I ended up returning the tv and getting back what I paid out of pocket. I called Verizon multiple times and got the same response - I had used the discount code and couldn't get another discount code. So now I am still out a tv, a discount code, and over an hour and a half on the phone. The sales person who I signed up with was amazing but this experience has made me reconsider future plans of sticking with Verizon.
Had I known that I would be unable to return, which is not indicated outright (see below), I may have done things differently. Also makes me wonder what would happen if I had bought a defective product and tried to return it.
As a disclaimer this is copy and pasted from my email outlining the promotion after I signed up -

Out of curiosity, how long after you placed your order did it take you to receive your code? Was it before or after receiving and activating your internet? Still waiting on mine

I didn't look for the code until after my internet was installed. I initially stumbled across it after I downloaded the apps (Verizon Home and My Verizon) and saw it under home offers.
