Audio of Fios Mini 1 connected to TV via HDMI not being routed to sound system connected to TV via digital audio output port

I am adding a sound system to my TV setup. I have a Fios Mini1, a Roku device, and a Chromcast all connected to a Sharp TV via HDMI (3 devices on 3 different HDMI input  ports on the TV) The TV is connected to the sound system via a digital audio output cable. Audio from the Roku and Chromecast get routed ino the TV via HDMI and then down the digital output port from the TV to the sound system and out to the speakers. Audio from the Fios Mini1 will not play via the sound system. The Fios Mini1 plays audio just fine through the TV speakers.

I have already swapped the Fios Mini1 to the Roku port to verify it's not just a TV port configuration problem, changed the Fios Mini1 HDMI cable twice , and changed the Fios Mini1 HMDI configuration to "L-PCM" and then to "Passthrough"  but no audio from the sound system speakers. The Fios1 audio plays fine through the sound system if the FIOS Mini1 is connected to the sound system via HDMI and then from the sound system back to the TV via HDMI but this doesn't allow seamless switching between the FIOS, Roku, and Chromcast.

My goal is to have all 3 devices seamlessly play audio through the sound system one at a time by selecting the desired device from the HDMI input port on the TV.

Try using the optical out of the TV into your sound system. Make sure the optical out is enabled and you select that as the input to the surround system.

I should have been more clear when I stated "digital audio out" from the TV was connected to the sound system. The "digital audio out" port is the optical out. It is enabled as the audio from the Roku and Chromecast both are routed to the sound system via that port. Thank you for your  suggestion.

Can you post the make and model of both the TV and surround system? Did you try using the TVs ARC port connected to the sound system via HDMI instead of the optical out?
