This is absolutely frustrating. I have the YouTube app disabled within the new Fios box settings, but when my son says “play X YouTube” the google assistant loads up YouTube.
how do I either disable the microphone on the new Fios box, or how do I outright ban YouTube on the tv? What a misstep in design with this service.

Do you have another Google device that is listening? Could be that controlling the Fios box. Put a parental lock on it and see what happens.

No other google device. We’re a Mac / Amazon family. I’ve disabled YouTube completely. It’s when you use the Fios google assistant. It just bypasses the settings.

The remote is the only thing in that system that has a microphone. Is he using the built in mic on the remote to call up You Tube? If so there may be a setting in the Android settings that could disable the microphone in the remote. Or you could try removing the You Tube app or the Google Assistant in the settings too. Also you could order the older P-265 remote that doesn't have a mic and use that for him.
