How can I register and use my Amazon Fire TV Stick to stream my Fios?

I cannot get the Fios TV app to work on my Amazon Fire Stick. When I get to the step of registering the device I get a message saying:

"No Streaming Device Connected detected. Your Fios TV package doesn't include a Streaming Device Connection, which is required to use this device to access your Fios TV service. You can go to http://myverizon.com to manage your account connections."

I can use the Fios TV app to live stream Fios TV to my Samsung phone AND to my laptop. Doesn't that mean I do have the Streaming Device Connection included in my account?  How can I register and use my firestick just like my laptop?  The Amazon Fire Stick is brand new, 3rd generation.

From a recent article:

Unfortunately, the app is only compatible with devices running Fire OS 6 and 7. That means customers with 2nd-gen Fire TV Sticks, which make up the majority of Fire TV devices in the wild, do not have access to the app. Only Fire TV models released in or after 2017 and Fire TV Smart TVs released in or after 2018 are compatible. You say yours is Gen3, which should be compatible. Call billing and have them add the Firestick to your account. Then register it as a device in the home on the home network.
